Next meeting: topic proposal

As a topic at the next meeting I would like to propose that Harald Riegler from Sproing tells us a little bit about various financing models for game development (completion bonding etc.). I talked to him about it on the Neo party, and he knows a lot about the subject. Or at least more than me. He was also intoxicated enough to agree to talk about it at the next IGDA meeting. Or maybe I was so intoxicated that I remember him agreeing, I dunno.

Good question there. The truth is somewhere in between I guess. Anyway, as long as there is enough interest, I'm happy to provide an overview over the whole thing. The only thing I'm interested to know, is, given the member structure, if this financial topic is actually interesting enough for people to make it a worthwhile issue?

next meeting
I hope the next meeting will also attract some new (independent) guys who missed the first meeting. They might be interested in this kind of information.
Nevertheless, we should decide upon a new date for the next chapter meeting.
I hereby propose that we hold the next chapter meeting on 14/02/2003.
Are there any specific recommendations/proposals regarding the venue where we should hold the next meeting ?
I will send out this proposal to everybody who attended the first meeting, but we should setup a mailinglist for the chapter to also inform/involve those, who dont follow the forum that closely. Any suggestions for setting this up ?

I'll be returning from my holiday on the 15th, so if you want me talk about this stuff, then a week later would be great.

We are planning for a skiing week that, if it happens, can only happen from 17th to 23rd, so anything before that would be good. sunday 16th anyone?

Sunday is not very good, since many "locations" are closed on sundays...
Otherwise it's ok with me...
the location is still undefined. Clemens and moi were talking about a more quiet place than last time, so far we're still accepting recommendations
a convention center - like establishment might be a godd idea, maybe some gasthaus with an extra room for weddings etc. might work too...

There's an excellent restaurant in the 15th called Augustin. They have a back room, perhaps one could reserve all of that?

IGDA meeting on Valentine's Day sounds depressing, plus I may actually go do something more traditional that day.

I propose that Clemens pick a day sufficiently far ahead and when all of the people who are speaking - another decision - are available and there are no company ski trips. Otherwise we'll never figure this out.

23rd is fine for me but only in the evening...
But, without trying to restart the discussion, wouldn't Friday evenings be more convenient for most of us (not Valentines day, though!)
the rockstars will return from vacation saturday night, that's why we went for sunday.
plus, IMHO people are much more focused when they're relaxed after the weekend, so friday night would probably feature a lot of tired faces with everything except games on their mind
Next meeting date and location
I've reserved a (nearly) private room in the restaurant "Siebenstern" (http://www.7stern.at) for the 23rd of February.
The chapter meeting will start at 19:00 and we will start with a talk by Harald Riegler from Sproing Interactive about financing models in the game industry.
