ARG SIG - Player groups

One of the unique aspects of ARG's is for being practically the only online games where the players collaborate intensively, in their thousands, with little or no griefing, and extremely rich and positive communities. This page lists some of the best-known organizations and player-communities for ARG players.

(if you spot any omissions, please email us at arg_sig @ igda.org and we'll add them!)

ARGN - The Alternate Reality Gaming Network

"The Alternate Reality Gaming Network is the largest and most complete news resource available for players of online collaborative Alternate Reality Games. ARGNet offers insightful, investigative reporting from dedicated, knowledgeable volunteers through articles, interviews and netcasts."

Unfiction / Unforums

"a gateway to ... introduce neophytes to this unique genre of gaming"

The forums on Unfiction.com are the central organizational resource for most players of most ARG's. This is the first port of call when you want to find out what's going on in any particular ARG, help solve puzzles, and get in touch with other players.

Cloudmakers

"On April 11, 2001, Cloudmakers was founded as a discussion group for the interative web game centered around the film A.I."

Cloudmakers was the name of the community of players of the first ARG (The Beast), with thousands of members. They exceeded all expectations of the game's creators, solving puzzles hundreds of times faster than the developers expected, using their vast pool of skills and resource highly efficiently.
