Austin GameDev Microtalks v1.0 with Descendants of Erdrick
It began at GDC; one 50 minute session captivated its audience with 10 very interesting people who each gave one 5 minute presentation in rapid succession. The audience had very short attention spans, but they did not have time to get bored... because as soon as one topic was about to grow stale, another interesting topic took its place. This is the concept behind microtalks. On May 19th, we will bring you 10 of the most interesting game developers in Austin, and they will each share a golden 5-minute nugget of brain candy with you.
In a bar.
Afterwards, a local up and coming band known as Descendants of Erdrick will be gracing us with rockin' non-8bit renditions of your favorite 8bit games.

Ghostbusters Wii: The Post-DeathMortem
Presented by Mike McShaffry and Dustin Dobson of Red Fly Studios
In January of 2007, three accomplished artists and one designer set out to carve a niche for themselves in the lonely city of Austin. This was a time of strife within the games industry when giants all around this noble city were falling and being crushed under their own weight. Two years later, Red Fly would become one of the leading third party developers within the Austin games industry. Ghostbusters on the Wii was pivotal to this new established identity for the studio and its body of approximately 80 employees.
This is the origin story... of a haunted game.... and the takeaways from its development that will shatter your soul!
