IGDA Austin Website Changes
IGDA-Central has recently changed website management services, thus leading to our recent changes. We are still updating our website with our archived information, but in the meanwhile, we will begin posting jobs and news again for the local Austin development scene.
Disney / Junction Point is HIRING Sr. Game Designer and Artists

Founded by Warren Spector, Junction Point Studios (JPS) joined Disney Interactive Studios (DIS) in September of 2007 and is quickly growing. While DIS is part of the larger Walt Disney Company, we still have the autonomy of a smaller developer/publisher without many of the risks and restrictions associated with start-ups.
Comprised of experienced game developers from places like Origin, Looking Glass, Electronic Arts, Sony, Sony Online, Digital Anvil, NC Soft, Rare and many more, we believe long-term success can best be achieved by delivering games of the highest quality – in game play and presentation, notably on time and budget. While hard work and commitment to quality is important, quality of life is equally important and our goal is to create an environment that fosters a superior work/life balance.
We are currently looking for:
Senior Game Designer
Environment Artist
Mid Level Artist (Contract)

Global Game Jam in Austin starting January 30th!
"What is a Game Jam?
In a Game Jam, participants come together to make video games. Each
participant works in a small team on a complete game project over the
course of a limited time period, usually over a weekend. With such a
small time frame, the games tend to be innovative and experimental.
The Global Game Jam (GGJ) is the first of its kind: a game Jam that
takes place in the same 48 hours all over the world! The global Game
Jam will start at 5:00PM Friday, January 30, 2009 through 5:00PM
Sunday, February 1, 2009, (all times local). All participants in the
Global Game Jam will be constrained by the same rules and limitations,
with each time zone having one distinct constraint. The Global Game
Jam was created by the IGDA EduSIG.
What is the Austin edition?
We are hosted by Austin Community College's Game Development Institute
at the Northridge Campus. As such we will provide computers and access
to several software packages on the programming and art side
(including Python, XNA, 3DSMax, and Photoshop) to enable you to make a
game... FAST! (We only have 48 hours and a random theme that's given
to us by GGJ Central at the start of the Jam January 30th.) The jam is
an all-day, all-night event - a true jam session for geeks and gamers.
Get out there and create some exciting experimental gameplay!
