Bioware Seeks Web Programmer

BioWare Austin is looking for qualified Java/JMS/J2EE Programmer for our platform group to help create and maintain MMO platform systems.
Platform systems include ecommerce, subscriptions, business intelligence, global game systems (like chat or event logging), metrics, customer service tools, and other game systems global to the game service. The successful candidate will have expert knowledge of and experience in the design, implementation, and continuing support of JMS based enterprise applications. Extensive experience and knowledge of highly scalable, fault tolerant, uniformly designed, object oriented, distributed applications is required. End to end knowledge of application architecture from DB to web browser is also required for this job.

Required Skills
- Core
- A Bachelor’s degree in computing science or computer engineering.
- Minimum of 2 to 5 years professional software development experience writing Java/JMS/J2EE enterprise level applications
- Ability to take ownership of major features and components of our online gaming platform
- Experience using, modifying, integrating middleware applications to a common architecture
- Experience writing interfaces to 3rd-party products, including customer service, billing, chat, patching, and various other similar applications.
- Expertise in Apache, Tomcat, J2EE, JMS, OOD, web based GUI, SQL, DB Design, Struts, design patterns, ESB Design, XML, XSLT
- Excellent OO development skills, as demonstrated by having designed medium-large sized projects
- Good working knowledge of web based GUI
- Experience with design patterns and distributed systems
- Expertise with JMS/C++ interfaces
- Expertise in both application based replication and/messaging systems and database based systems
- Expertise in programming to distributed enterprise database environments
- Expertise in Unix/Linux
- Passion for playing video games.
- Able to relocate to Austin, Texas
- A Bachelor’s degree in computing science or computer engineering.
- Programming
- Expertise in building threaded architectures with Java/JMS/J2EE
- Expertise in database driven applications with Java/JMS/J2EE
- Expertise in building and maintaining a common base server architecture to be used throughout an organization
- Expertise in building threaded architectures with Java/JMS/J2EE
- Database
- Working knowledge of database schema design and underlying storage architectures
- Experience with database procedural language programming (PL/SQL) and schema design
- Working knowledge of database schema design and underlying storage architectures
Recommended Skills
- Ecommerce or Customer service applications experience
- C++ Expertise
- Perl, Python, Bash
- C# experience would be a bonus
- Game industry experience
