TXMPA Meeting at St. Ed's - SATURDAY. Get Out And Vote!

Austin gamers urged to attend TXMPA meeting Saturday, June 30, 10:00 am at St. Edward's University. Your vote is needed!

The Texas incentive program would not have been possible without the Texas Motion Picture Alliance (TXMPA), a statewide network of volunteers who lobbied the Texas Legislature to pass the bill. Despite its name, TXMPA encompasses more than films. Video game developers played a role in the group this year, but a much stronger game influence is needed if we're to build upon the recently passed incentive program and expand its impact in the next legislative session.

TXMPA Announcement

With a stroke of the governor's pen earlier this month, a game and film industry incentive bill became law. What does that mean for us as game developers? Any project spending more than $100,000 in-state is eligible for a 5% cash incentive, with a cap of $250,000, from the State of Texas. While this is not a staggering amount, every bit counts, and, more importantly, the mere fact that we now have an incentive program on the books is a huge accomplishment.
