TXMPA Meeting at St. Ed's - SATURDAY. Get Out And Vote!

Austin gamers urged to attend TXMPA meeting Saturday, June 30, 10:00 am at St. Edward's University. Your vote is needed!

The Texas incentive program would not have been possible without the Texas Motion Picture Alliance (TXMPA), a statewide network of volunteers who lobbied the Texas Legislature to pass the bill. Despite its name, TXMPA encompasses more than films. Video game developers played a role in the group this year, but a much stronger game influence is needed if we're to build upon the recently passed incentive program and expand its impact in the next legislative session.

Presently only one of TXMPA's 30 board members, Marten Davies, hails from the game industry. Gamers need more visibility on this board if we're to expand the incentives. Elections for new board members are this Saturday, June 30, 10:00 am at St. Edward's University in South Austin. Game industry professionals, educators, supporters and students are urged to attend the meeting. You'll learn about TXMPA's successes this year, its agenda for the next legislative session, and--more importantly--you'll vote for new board members.

One of our own game industry folks, Rodney Gibbs, outgoing chair of IGDA--Austin, is running for the TXMPA board and he needs your support. He runs with the goal of representing the game industry at the capital, increasing our industry's exposure across the state, and building upon the incentive program to help more game companies thrive in Texas. Through his work with IGDA-Austin and other organizations, Rodney has contributed significantly to our local scene. Help him take that passion and experience to the TXMPA board by showing up Saturday and voting.

Directions:
The Ragsdale Center is on the campus of St. Edwards University in Austin. The TXMPA meeting will be held in Jones Auditorium (located on the west side, ground floor of the Ragsdale Center).

From Southbound I-35 take the Woodward St. exit.
From Northbound I-35 exit Ben White and remain on the access road until you reach Woodward St.
Head west and in a short distance you will see the campus on the right. There are two entrances from Woodward, the first is Theatre Pass and the second is Andre Drive. Turn right at Andre Drive, park and walk across to the Ragsdale Center.

From Mopac/Ben White:
From southbound Mopac exit Loop 360 and stay on it when it changes to
Hwy 71 East. Exit So. Congress Ave. Turn left onto Congress and right on Woodward. Turn left into campus at Andre Drive, park and walk across to the Ragsdale Center.
