Edge of Reality is an independent veteran studio based in Austin, Texas. We are working on an innovative original next generation action title called Cipher Complex. We are also partnering with SEGA and Marvel to create an exciting new title based on one of Marvel's signature super hero characters. While it's too soon to announce details, the project is going to be very high profile. The studio has shipped 9 games over 9 years. The commercial success of these games has provided long-term stability for the company. The chemistry of the studio is very positive. Everyone puts aside their egos, and works hard to make the best game possible. EoR is searching for new team members!

Senior Animator
REQUIREMENTS:

• Exceptional understanding of animation theory, and the ability to Animate Characters (and objects) to an extremely HIGH level of quality in a 3D software package (Maya preferred). Setting the standard for Lower level animators on the team.
• Ability to animate realistic human motions.
• Extensive knowledge of Character rigging and weighting.
• 5 year minimum experience as an animator in Video games or related Industry, with a minimum of 2 shipped titles.
• DEMO REEL THAT SHOWS 3D ANIMATION IS REQUIRED.
PREFERRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS
• Experience managing others
• Ability to effectively teach others.

Rigger/Animator
REQUIREMENTS:

• Provide character tools, animation controls, Rigging, and weighting of Characters
• Ability to envision and create complex scripts / tools using Mel Script to help streamline animator productivity.
• Exceptional understanding of animation theory, and the ability to Animate Characters (and objects) to a HIGH level of quality in MAYA.
• 3 year minimum experience as an animator in Video games or related Industry, with a minimum of 2 shipped titles.
DEMO REEL THAT SHOWS 3D ANIMATION IS REQUIRED, AS ARE SAMPLE RIGS AND MEL SCRIPTS.

Environment Artist
REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to model, and texture 3D Environments to a HIGH level of quality.
• Understanding of lighting concepts, and the ability to effectively Light environments.
• Excellent environmental Concept art skills. Traditional Skills a MUST
• Excellent eye for color.
• 3 Years Minimum experience as a 3D Artist in Video games or related Industry.
• DEMO REEL THAT SHOWS 3D ENVIRONMENT MODELING AND TEXTURE WORK IS REQUIRED.
• Dedication to high quality environment art. This is not the right position for someone who really wants to do character work.
PREFERRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS
• Graphic design / layout skills a plus.
• Effectively produce game background Matt paintings.
• Experience managing others

Animation Outsource Manager
The Animation Outsourcing Manager is responsible for finding, researching, testing, selecting, and negotiating with animation outsource vendors. They are the primary link between Edge of Reality and all studios we use for our animation outsourcing purposes. Therefore strong communication skills and PR skills are a must for this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Taking instruction and accepting responsibilities delegated to him or her by the studio management team, and carrying out those instructions and responsibilities in an expeditious and professional manner.
• Keeping up to date with the industry as a whole, to ensure a “high quality/competitive” product.
• Work with project leads to determine outsourcing needs.
• Generate project specification documentation to be delivered to animation studios.
• Work with Leads and Project management staff to schedule asset due dates.
• Find, research, test, select, and negotiate with animation studios.
• Review deliverables for quality and accuracy.
• Test deliverables to ensure they work with the game engine, and implement approved animations into the game engine.
• Seeing to it that all deliverables are completed on time, as per the requirements of the project milestones.
• Compile deliverables in an organized and easily accessible manner for the Lead artists.
• Handle any disputes with outsource firms.
• Provide Management with weekly summaries of deliverables completed and due dates.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 3+ years of working as an animator in Video games or related Industry, and 1 year experience within the discipline of outsource management.
• Well-developed communication and personal skills with a customer service attitude.
• Ability to effectively communicate tasks clearly and efficiently.
• Desire to learn, grow and be open to new ideas, production techniques and management techniques.
• A well-developed skill in the field of animation.
• Professionalism, commitment and maturity in performing job duties.
• Excellent eye for quality, and the ability to review deliverables for quality and accuracy.
• Highly organized.
• Strong aptitude for animation oriented software, must have at least mid-level animation skills and experience.

Senior Engine Programmer
REQUIREMENTS:

• Proficiency with C++
• Very strong math and computer graphics background
• Pixel/Vertex shader experience
• Deep understanding of the latest graphics research
• Mastery of complex algorithms and computational techniques
• Professional programming experience
• Willing to accept and provide direction, work well under pressure, and handle multiple tasks
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

Internship positions available:

Production Assistant Internship
RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Act as the lead tester for our internal testing department.
• Work with the Project Manager to coordinate the testing and quality assurance efforts of the team.
• Help monitor the bug databases throughout the project.
• Assist the Project Manager where needed to keep the production team moving forward. This may include attending meetings for the Project Manager, running errands and helping Project Team Leads.
• Assist in maintaining positive team morale and a productive work environment.
• Help facilitate team communication and ensure timely dissemination of information.
• Aid the Project Manager in setting up the localization pipeline and executing on it.
• Define a test plan and help manage the testing team.
• Will be responsible for compiling and tracking squad tasks.
• Will be responsible for creating/managing tasks in various databases.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Previous testing or QA experience in the game development industry.
• Familiarity with games’ scripting.
• Strong written and verbal communication and leadership skills.
• Must excel at working in a team environment.
• Very strong initiative, with a desire to learn and be challenged.
• Excellent organizational and problem solving skills; a good sense of humor is a plus.
• Must have demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Project, Excel, and Outlook are a plus.

Outsourcing Art Intern:
REQUIREMENTS:

• Proficiency in Maya and Photoshop
• Must have strong traditional art skills.
• Must be dependable, a quick learner, and able to follow directions.
• Must be available for a minimum of 40 hours/week.
• PORTFOLIO DEMONSTRATING 3D MODELING AND TEXTURING SKILLS IS REQUIRED.
