Bioware Austin Seeks Desktop Support Analyst

BioWare Austin is looking for qualified JR Desktop Support Analyst for our Information Systems Team. The Desktop Support Analyst will be actively involved in most aspects of the Information Systems operation of BioWare Austin, from basic user support to system maintenance. You will multiple tasks which will require flexibility and the ability to adapt to new challenges. The position consults and reports to both locally in Austin and directly to the Manager, Desktop Support in Edmonton, Alberta, with varying level of autonomy and independent judgment expected to enhance the department’s service levels. This position works in conjunction with the BioWare Austin Senior Infrastructure Support Analyst to provide a full range of IT-related customer support activities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide support, service, maintenance and repairs of computers and peripheral equipment.
- Installation and support of client software applications and operating systems.
- Perform basic hardware diagnostics, routine moves, adds and changes.
- Install, configure and wire up AV devices such as TVs, 5.1 systems, DVD players, game consoles.
- Network administration—support and maintain desktop, printers, and other network clients.
- Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems.
- Provides day- to- day technical support and guidance to users.
- Assist the Manager, Desktop support to develop specifications for workstations and servers to match requirements.
- Help Admin team when required with non-IT related tasks.
- Maintain and enforce IT policies (such as Security, Software, and Hardware).
- Asset tracking and quarterly audits (initially assisting with the set up of the asset tracking database as well).
Qualifications
- Must have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures relating to systems administration – with a minimum of 1-3 years of practical experience to accomplish goals
- Extensive troubleshooting experience with hardware, software, and network connectivity issues
- Experience troubleshooting Windows 2000/XP and Office 2000/XP
- Experience with Linux and/or FreeBSD and asset
- Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition or Trend- Micro AV products
- Disk imaging experience, such as PowerQuest Disk Image Pro or Symantec Ghost
- Experience performing system backups and recovery
