Happy New Year from everyone at Gemini School of Visual Arts & Communication. If getting back into an art studio is on that resolution list, we've got the perfect opportunity for you. Dust off your brushes and join us for one or all of our studio@gemini Painting Workshops. Whether you prefer skies, clouds or seas, we've got a class to re-invigorate your creative spirit.
Classes are held on Wednesday evenings from 6-9 p.m. The fee for each six-session workshop is $250. Registration and class material forms are on our website www.geminischool.com/html/eveningclasses.html . Class size is limited, so reserve your seat early!
Join us for a six-week journey into painting Skies & Clouds. The sky in a painting is often put in as an afterthought; something to fill the top half of the painting. In fact, the sky is the most important factor and the key to the atmosphere of the whole painting. In this workshop, we will treat the sky as the major part of the subject, reducing the landscape to a supporting role. Clouds are affected by light and perspective in the same way as any other large three dimensional object. We will explore how to exaggerate the tonal contrast caused by cloud shadows to add drama in a painting.
For centuries artists have battled with the complex and diverse subject that is the sea. Join us on a six week voyage of discovery through techniques of the masters of this genre. With transparency, reflection, color and tone, we'll capture the ocean's unique combination of raw power and tranquil beauty.
In landscape painting there are two distinct types of features: Spot and Linear. Join us for this series of six classes where we take a closer look at Spot Features. Acting as "punctuation marks" throughout a painting, spot features such as buildings, trees, bushes, animals, people and rocks create a center of interest, focus the eye and provide balance to the composition.
