Retro Studios seeks Senior Engineer

Description of Duties

  • A senior individual contributor responsible for the development and integration of game systems and tools
  • Utilizes in-depth experience to identify and anticipate potential areas for improvement, and to assist, train and mentor junior members of the team
  • Designs, writes, tests, implements and maintains clear maintainable code
  • Writes documentation for other programmer's use
  • Has a clear vision of how products should function and the ability to lead peers to share this vision
  • Develop systems and content for Nintendo titles
  • Develop and maintain C# & Win32 tools to manage asset pipeline and creation
  • Identify future areas for development and improvement
  • Communicate with senior management costs/benefits of system development
  • Work with art and design teams to optimize content creation and to define technical solutions to their problems
  • Report to engineering director on project status

Summary of Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • 6 years experience developing console games
  • Strong C++ and math
  • At least 3 full production cycles culminating in shipped titles
  • Experience developing game architecture & tools
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently with a minimum of supervision
