Edge of Reality is currently hiring for a number of full time positions:

Level Designer
Responsibilities:

  • Work in a collaborative environment, planning and laying out game spaces.
  • Construct proxy game spaces in Maya.
  • Iterate with designers and artists to perfect the proxy game spaces.
  • Polish and fine tune adjustments to the geometry of completed game spaces.
Job Requirements:
  • An overwhelming passion for playing and designing games, with a focus on the stealth-action genre.
  • Experience in constructing gameplay spaces using Maya. Demonstrable experience in level planning and layout, with available samples.
  • Ability to work with environment artists on the visual aesthetics of the spaces.
  • At least one shipped title in a development role.
Pluses:
  • Solid record of professional game design experience.
  • Console development experience.
  • DEMO Reel with design samples preferred.
HUD Artist (Flash)

We are looking for an artist with graphic design experience to develop console HUD and Front-end designs for our AAA titles.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Expert-level skills in 2D graphics and layout design. Proficiency in FLASH, aftereffects, and other software used to prototype out front-end and HUD designs.
  • Familiarity with 3D software (MAYA preferred) to build and implement elements of the HUD/Front end. 3 years or more production experience with HUD and Front end design for video games, or related FLASH design experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail, self-initiative and follow-through.
  • Photoshop skills required.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team as well as manage and instruct junior artists.
  • Strong traditional art/3D animation skills.
  • Ability to quickly master proprietary tools and development processes. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organization skills. Strong work ethic, self-direction and artistic vision, dedication to the craft, and to the studio.
  • DEMO REEL THAT SHOWS FRONT-END / HUD WORK IS REQUIRED.
Contract Sr. Level Concept Artist

We are seeking a senior level contract Concept Artist to assist our Project leads in creating both environment and character concepts, providing an exciting, imaginative, and contemporary vision of the world.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent Concept art skills, versatility in style and subject matter is important with an expert eye for perspective, color, lighting, and atmosphere
  • Ability to create character designs, as well as environmental studies
  • Ability to rapidly express their vision in both line art and color imagery that conveys mood, composition, and action
  • Background in fine art and illustration. Excellent Traditional Skills a MUST
  • Familiarity with 2D computer paint packages such as PhotoShop or Painter
  • Effectively produce game background Matt paintings
  • 3 Years Minimum experience as a 2D Artist in Video games or related Industry
  • PORTFOLIO SAMPLES THAT SHOWS 2D ENVIRONMENT CONCEPT ABILITY IS REQUIRED
PREFERRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS
  • Experience with 3D software such as MAYA

Sr. Environment Artist

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to model, and texture 3D Environments to a HIGH level of quality.
  • Understanding of lighting concepts, and the ability to effectively Light environments.
  • Excellent environmental Concept art skills. Traditional Skills a MUST
  • Excellent eye for color.
  • 3 Years Minimum experience as a 3D Artist in Video games or related Industry.
  • DEMO REEL THAT SHOWS 3D ENVIRONMENT MODELING AND TEXTURE WORK IS REQUIRED.
  • Dedication to high quality environment art. This is not the right position for someone who really wants to do character work.
PREFERRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
  • Effectively produce game background Matt paintings.
  • Experience managing others
  • Ability to effectively teach others.

PAID INTERNSHIPS ($10 PER HOUR):

Production Assistant

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • He/She will act as the lead tester for our internal testing department
  • He/she will work with the Project Manager to coordinate the testing and quality assurance efforts of the team
  • He or she will help monitor the bug databases throughout the project
  • He or she will assist the Project Manager where needed to keep the production team moving forward. This may include attending meetings for the Project Manager, running errands and helping Project Team Leads
  • He or she will assist in maintaining positive team morale and a productive work environment
  • He or she will help facilitate team communication and ensure timely dissemination of information
  • He or she will aid the Project Manager in setting up the localization pipeline and executing on it
  • He or she will define a test plan and help manage the testing team
  • He or she will be responsible for compiling and tracking squad tasks
  • He or she will be responsible for creating/managing tasks in various databases
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Previous testing or QA experience in the game development industry familiarity with games' scripting
  • Strong written and verbal communication and leadership skills
  • Must excel at working in a team environment
  • Very strong initiative, with a desire to learn and be challenged
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills; a good sense of humor is a plus
  • Must have demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project, Excel, and Outlook are a plus

Design Scripters

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience with programming or scripting languages
  • An overwhelming passion for playing and designing stealth-action games
  • Strong combination of critical reasoning and creativity
  • Ability to work in a collaborative group, taking and giving constructive criticism
  • Ability to design, implement, and refine top-quality mission content
PREFERRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
  • Computer Science/Programming background.
  • Experience with game-editor (UnrealEd, Radiant, Hammer, etc)
  • Experience with Maya or other 3D modeling software.
  • Demonstrable experience working on a collaborative game project.
  • Demonstrable experience in level planning and layout, with available samples.
