Mission Statement
IGDA Baltimore is a non-profit, volunteer advocacy group for the video games industry in the Baltimore, Maryland area. Our goals are focused on strengthening professional game development in the Baltimore area by:
- Fostering a sense of community among working game developers
- Keeping talent in the Baltimore area
- Attracting talent to the Baltimore area
- Showcasing the fact that Baltimore has a thriving professional game development community
We do this by holding regular meetings, organizing events that are relevant to game developers in the Baltimore area, updating this website, and maintaining a Chapter Forum.
Note: the "DC & Vicinity" Chapter of the IGDA is still active, and their website can be found at http://www.igda.org/dc. The two chapters plan to hold a combined gathering at least once a year.
Mailing List
In addition to the Chapter Forum, IGDA Baltimore also maintains an announcements-only email list, hosted by Google Groups.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I have to be an IGDA member to attend meetings?
A: Chapter meetings are open to all who want to attend, regardless of IGDA affiliation: membership is not required to attend chapter functions. However, membership is strongly encouraged: talk to a member of the Chapter Committee to find out more about the benefits of joining the IGDA. Members of the Chapter Committee must be full (non-student) members of the IGDA in good standing.
Q: I'm interested in getting into the game industry and/or selling my product to local developers. Can I attend?
While we encourage anyone to attend, the main purpose of local IGDA chapters is to serve professional game developers. People from related fields (hardware, tools, media, academia) are welcome, but our activities are focused on the needs of local working game developers. Our members don't attend to gather resumes or listen to sales pitches.
If you're a vendor, you might be interested in sponsoring a meeting or lecture. Please contact the Chapter Committee for further details.
