Presentation: "The Video Game Business – it’s not a game anymore"

by David Vronay, Research Manager of the Center for Interaction Design in Microsoft Research Asia

Many game companies are started by enthusiastic individuals who believe that their great ideas and willingness to work hard will ensure their success.  However, a game company is just another business, subject to all of the financial, marketing, and managerial requirements of any other business.  In this talk, Mr. Vronay will discuss the evolution of the video game business from its earliest hobbyist days to its current incarnation as a massive international entertainment oligopoly.  The talk will be from the perspective of someone who has worked everywhere from his friend’s living room to the world’s largest software company, and will provide practical advice for those who hope to enter this dynamic market.
