We survived the dark, we survived the cold, we persevered and in the end even the teams with incomplete games triumphed. From nothing we pulled together and the beginnings of many games were created.

The roundtable was a great success! I felt like we hit a few very interesting and insightful talking points during the night. It was well attended! We had to cap it at 16 due to space reasons. I saw four or so studios represented. We got to see the nice new location and meet some of the team. Great people, good times! Thanks to everyone for coming out!

Nearly 50 people gathered in the Natural History Museum of Utah to enjoy some industry chat and catered food and awesome award announcements at the Utah Game Developers Choice Awards 2016! Congratulations to React Games for Audience Choice Award for Super Dungeon Bros, KickBomb Entertainment for Pushing Boundaries Award for Legacy of the Elder Star, and Projectile Entertainment for Best in Show Award for Momentum.
Thanks again to the judges for helping out for the event, and to Utah Games Guild for sponsoring and organizing!
Afterwards we gathered at Desert Edge brewery and pub for more chat, games, and drinks. Momentum was set up and shown and lots of great chat and networking went on. Thanks again to Desert Edge for their prize donation of a $30 gift card to the grand prize winner!
This was a great meeting! Huge thank you to React Games and Tyler LaGrange for hosting and speaking and providing refreshments. We had about 4 studios represented and over 20 people. The presentation was a candid and informative technical director postmortem of Super Dungeon Bros, the AAA indie title you may have seen at GDC. The React studio was great to visit, very spacious and fun decor, and there were lots of great people in attendance and I saw lots of great networking and socializing. Join us again in September for our next meeting!
Thanks to everyone that found and attended the meeting this month! We had about 10 people with three studios represented. We played a lot of FRIGHT which is a fun party game coming up and was presented by Jeff Peters. There was also some King of Tokyo played, and some drinks and root beer floats. We also unveiled our new banner which we'll be using in the Pride parade in June.
Special thanks to Holodeck and Assorted Nuts Games for sponsoring, and Jon Dean, Brianne Christiansen, and a few others for their volunteer help!
Kimberly is on her flight back home and the event was a major success! We had over 40 people in attendance and were able to fit in a lot of Q&A time and quality networking time. Attendees told me the speech was helpful and the tips she gave were good. Once again a huge thank you to the IGDA Foundation and UVU for making this possible.
Tonight's IGDA Meeting was pretty awesome. With about 8 people and 3 studios repesented, the audience was smaller but the networking was great. Ross Przybylski, currently a Game Producer at EA Salt Lake, spoke to us about founding a Video Game Empire and strategies for making successful games. He has graciously recorded the speech and shared it online for those that couldn't make it.
Feel free to comment and check out his channel, and also thank you to Wild Works for hosting!
Also I'd like officially announce Brianne Christiansen is joining the chapter board as Vice Chair!
Brianne has been helping keep events up to date here on igda.org and will be helping with venues and speakers along with the others in the Organization Committee. No election will be held for any positions unless qualified opposing candidates for existing positions on the board appear. Thank you for reading, and here's to another great year for your local Utah chapter!
