Female Hit Maker Speaks
A short while ago, <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?section_name=dev&aid=1872">Sega promoted Mie Kumagai</a> to serve as president of subsidiary HitMaker. She became the first female studio president in Japan... Now, Polygon has a <a href="http://www.polygonmag.com/news/index.php?id=470">quick interview with her</a>.
I particularly like the last Q/A:
Question: "Do you think the number of women players is rising?"
Kumagi-san: "I never played games myself before joining Sega, and I think the image of a female player isn't desirable in society. But games are a great form of entertainment. I learned that at Sega and I feel women need to be educated about the fun of games. The audience for games is wide and should include more women. Darts are a more conventional game, but women really enjoy it. At a local darts bar in Ikebukruo women represent 50 percent of the cliental. I want to break down the barriers around videogames the same way."
Darts? Who knew?

My Sega’s friend told me that a studio uses the darts bar for a welcome party for new biz. It may be usual in Sega…

I know a few women at work (in their fifties for the most part) who belong to a dart club, which I gather is as much about darts as it is about being a weekly social club.

I've seen some newspapers say darts bars are becoming popular in Japan. There is also a site for finding darts bars(<a href="http://dartsnavi.com/">http://dartsnavi.com/</a> ) I've never been to one, but I might try some day.
Sega and Hit Maker are behind some of them. And I think below is the darts bar she talked about.
Darts Bar "Bee IKEBUKURO" Opened

I am new to the internet and I am surfing here and this is very interesting reading. I did a search in the search engines on "pub bar entertainment blog" and I found your web blog and although "local darts bar" isnot the bar I was looking for, it was very interesting reading.
I am researching blogs as I was interested in a blog for myself, that is if I can understand how to operate a blog. The different things discussed on this website found by searching for "pub bar entertainment blog" is very amusing and from seeing and understanding more of how a blog operates, it may be more than this Halifax pub guy to handle.
thanks for the insight
see you at the pub ( some call it bar! )
