prize winners: runners up

3rd place - McCaskie Sky Shanty by "dalemackie": A great looking post-apocalyptic world with an intriguing story of the "fortunate ones" having hidden themselves in locked cities and the people left outside have to try and find a way into the promised land. The player has to struggle and fight his way through many obstacles in a desolate world. A good looking concept with a solid story and a good game idea behind it.
2nd runner up: mckaskie sky shanty by dalemackie
2nd place - The Machine by "ashims": For a while this was going to be the winner. It is a gripping concept piece with not just one but two good ideas for games attached to it. In one idea the player is one of the ibis drones trying to reactive the system, in the other the player is a human trying to figure out how the world went so wrong in the first place. Two great ideas with a solid, gripping piece of imagery to back it up. The ibis drone looks both majestic and mournful as it looks out over what's left of the park. Good work. (The shoes are a nice touch.)
1st runner up: the machine by ashims

and the overall winner is:

winner: zen garden by midnightsnack

"i imagine there would be a lot of flying involved in this game... "

1st place - Zen Garden by "midnightsnack": This one was a bit of a sleeper hit. I always felt that it should win, but it was hard to argue why. So it sort of fell down a few points on the list. It was always a beautiful image, but didn't have much of a game idea attached to it other than a mention of flying and it was a bit hard to see where it was all going. But in the end we judges agreed that not only would a game based on this concept probably be fun to play, it would also be fun to make. This image stands apart from the others in its visual style, use of colours and innovative and bold total disregard for laws of nature! A very nice piece of art that clearly deserves to be the winner of the competition.

the standard was fabulous - thank you to all who entered and thank you to our magnificent judges, gaute + morgan
