Chi Developers crash Discreet party!
October 2001
by Teresa Stankiewicz

Chi developers crash the Discreet party (with permission, of course). Red Eye Motion Capture Studio hosts Discreet party and the IGDA chapter joined in. Here's the report from Maggie Bohlen, our hostess with the mostest at Red Eye.

The party was great! We had over 150 attendees. We actually had to order pizza because we ran out of food! The event was truely a party, we had capoiera performers from the Gingarte Capoeira Chicagoland group.

From the Gingarte Brochure:
The Capoeira is a mix of dance and music with the skill of martial arts. Performers combine rhythmic movements with high kicks and acrobatic maneuvers to create an amazing display of beauty. Capoeira is rooted in African-Brazilian slavery.

The presentations included a demo by Adam Holmes of Discreet speaking about some of their products, Matt Corso from High-Voltage speaking about his use of motion capture for the game Hunter:The Reckoning. Then we ended the presentation with a sample capture, and a preview of some of Red-Eye Studio's work.

The party continued till the last person left at 10:30! (Had to be an IGDAer!) We had a wonderful mix of people from a variety of businesses.

During the evening people took their picture with the poster guy, who was on the front of the invitation. Here's some shots.

Jesse & the Poster Guy!

Here's Sal from Midway Games and Adam from Discreet with two more party goers!

And of course our Northwestern students love a good party! I see newcomers and Rob, Robin and someone lurking behind Robin. Look out Robin!

A huge crowd enthralled with the presentation! Or they could be mesmerized by the performance!

Check out the balloons! How'd they do that?
