- Credit Standards
Far from following a set of industry standards, game credits are often inconsistent from game to game within the same company. As the industry evolves, the axiom that "you're only as good as your last game" is truer than ever. The mission of the Credit Standards Committee is to study, document and propose voluntary game industry crediting practices that properly recognizes and credits those responsible for the creation of games.
Goals
- Short term goal: Document how credits are currently determined in the industry, both in terms of process and terminology.
- Long term goal: An IGDA "generally accepted practices" guide on crediting, providing a proposed set of standards that could be voluntarily adopted by the industry.
Activities and Deliverable
The Credit Standards Committee is currently working on two main projects:
- "State of Game Industry Crediting " White Paper: A white paper to catalog the current state of credited roles and the way credits are applied - both in terms of process and terminology.
- Game Crediting Standards Guide: A "generally accepted practices" guide on crediting, providing a proposed set of standards that can be voluntarily adopted by the industry.
All of the details and results from the Credit Standards's endeavors will be made available from the "Advocacy - Credit Standards " section of the IGDA web site.
