Future Play is an international conference on the future of game design and technology which brings together academics, industry, and students to advance game design and technology through research, creative and experimental game design and development, and formal and informal discussion on academic and industry-related topics.
The Future Play conference focuses on three main themes. The first theme, future game development, addresses academic research and emerging industry trends in the area of game technology and game design. The second theme, future game impacts and applications, includes academic research and emerging industry trends focused on designing games for learning, for gender, for serious purposes, and to impact society. Finally, the third theme, future game talent, is designed to provide a number of industry and academic perspectives on the knowledge, skills, and attitude it takes to excel in the games industry.
Registration includes access to all conference events. Breakfast and lunch are also provided.
Registration is:
* $250 for non-IGDA members.
* $200 for IGDA members ($50 discount)
* $125 for students

September 2005 Meeting Announcement
Our bi-monthly meeting is coming up in a few weeks, and it should be a great event this time around! It’s a great time to get involved again in case you haven’t been to the last few meetings! Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Paul Kerchen:
Paul Kerchen has been developing computer games professionally since starting his career at Maxis in 1994. While at Maxis, Paul worked on several incarnations of SimCity and the un-released Simsville. After leaving Maxis and California in 2001, Paul founded his own game company in Michigan, Whirling Chair Games, to develop games for the casual games market. In 2004, Paul took a position at game developer Stardock Systems, where he currently is lead developer of Society, a multi-platform, massively-multiplayer, real-time strategy game.
Brian DeMarco:
Brian has worked in the PC Gaming industry for about the last 7 years. He lived in Michigan for the first 34 years of his life until he decided to move to San Diego, where got a customer service job and has since worked his way up. His last position was Associate Producer of The Matrix Online Monolith Productions in Kirkland, Washington.
