#WebinarWednesday - Game Design
World and System Design in Procedural Generation
Procedural generation is most often used to generate levels, which is a challenge in its own right, but we often stop short of considering how our algorithms (intentionally or accidentally) also inform the meaning of our worlds. Comparing and contrasting techniques used in Shattered Planet dungeon generation, versus a new "chunk-based" approach in Moon Hunters, Tanya will discuss techniques for analysing the right level of detail for a given algorithm, and how deep the procedural rabbit-hole can (or should) go.
