Color blind computer gaming
We are two master students at the department of computer science at Stockholm University.
We're in the process of writing a thesis regarding computer gaming for people with color vision deficiencies, and as a part of this process we'd like to gather some general feedback about our results so far.
The purpose of this thesis is to identify a couple of problem areas and by using established norms in the human-computer interaction field establish a few design patterns. These are intended to be used by developers of computer games.
The problems we encountered were captured as screen shots and subjected to tests by a mixed group of people with and without color vision deficiencies. To facilitate this we filtered the screen shots using the color blind emulation software Vischeck (http://www.vischeck.com). The results were later broken down into their respective sub-problems to be analyzed in detail.
We are currently at the point where we have a couple of design patterns which we'd like some input on. Please read the PDF file (it's not that long) and respond with whatever feedback you feel is relevant.
