I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, but do people really like me?

I'm currently working as an independently contracted web developer. My current contract runs out at the end of March and I'm hoping to transition from web development into game development. I've been programming games mostly as a hobby for the last 6 years, but I've really ramped it up to more than a hobby the past year in hopes that I could land a game programming gig.

I've created an online portfolio (www.crissmartin.com) to showcase my talents. I've also been keeping a blog (http://gamedevcm.blogspot.com/) chronicling the development of my latest project as well as the progress I've made toward my goal of landing a game programming job.

I'm just looking for some feedback on whether or not the approach I'm taking is the right one. Does keeping a blog help or hurt me? Does my portfolio make you interested in hiring me? Will my resume be noticed by a hiring manager?

Any and all feedback is appreciated.

Thanks
