NJ IGDA 2010 Elections - Nomination thread
Hey guys,
For those of you who won't be at the meeting today, here's the deal. Three (normally two - see below for details) of the four NJ coordinator positions are up again this year. As such we need a list of all individuals interested in running. If you are interested in running, please reply back and let it be known that you want to be considered. Once we reach the close out date (March 6th) we will add all those that are nominated to the ballot here on the site.
After you nominate yourself go to http://www.igda.org/forum/nj-igda-2010-elections-candidacy-statements and fill out your candidacy statement, telling all members why you should be elected.
As a reminder:
Coordinator/Board Structure
The IGDA NJ chapter will now be run by a group of 4 coordinators that comprise the Board of Directors for the chapter. The specifics of how the chapter is to be run is up to those 4 board members, but the high level breakdown of each position on the board is as follows:
Principal Chapter Coordinator - Responsible for the high-level responsibilities of running the chapter. Coordinates programming for meetings, organizes contributions from other board members and runs in-person meetings. Excellent communication and management skills are essential for this position.
Associate Chapter Coordinator - Responsible for the details-level responsibilities of running the chapter. Takes the high-level directives from the Principal Coordinator and implements them. Repsonsible for securing volunteers, organizing location logistics with the Treasurer, securing photographs for the Secretary, and assisting the Principle Chapter coordinator in any other necessary areas.
Secretary - Responsible for all chapter communication including meeting reports, web presence, meeting notifications and chapter outreach. The Secretary is the most visible of the coordinators, and also will likely have the heaviest workload. Good writing skills are essential.
Treasurer - Responsible for maintaining the financial health of the chapter and handling any necessary location logistics. This includes managing any income from sponsorships and the IGDA at large, as well as actively seeking out sponsorships and applying for grants from IGDA. The treasurer is also responsible for driving chapter membership and encouraging members to join as full IGDA members affiliated with the NJ chapter.
Coordinators always serve 2-year terms, and the yearly elections cycle out 2 coordinators per year.
Candidate Requirements
1. Candidates must be IGDA members in good standing who are affiliated with the IGDA NJ chapter (see Voting Requirements, below).
2. Candidates must be avialable to serve 2 year terms and take on the responsibilities and duties of an IGDA coordinatorship.
3. Candidates must be able to attend the majority of IGDA NJ in-person meetings during their tenure.
4. Candidates must deliver a candidacy statement in person or online.
Special cirumstances
Andrew Grapsas will be stepping down this year. Thus there is a third - 1 year term available as well, in addition to the 2 two year positions. The low vote getter in the election will get the 1 year term so that next year we will still have 2 positions open.
