Spot the Pirate! Oh, and we had a presentation of Max 7.5 and a talk on game AI as well...
A new chapter co-ordinator and a new venue! Admittedly one slightly harder for some people to find (cough, London crew, cough cough...) but ultimately far more IGDA Guildford friendly! No problems setting up projectors at this event!
Nick Manning and Kevin Booth from Autodesk got the evening underway with a presentation of some of the new features in 3D Studio Max 7.5. After dazzling us with some live demos of their impressive software they stuck around to show anyone interested the stuff they couldn't cram into their presentation! Everyone had a chance to replenish their drinks before Lionhead's own Adam Russell gave a rivetting and lively talk on the upcoming challenges for next-generation game AI. We also ran a quiz on the night for a grand prize of a copy of "Games Programming Gems 5" courtesy of Transatlantic Publishers. Winner of the prize was Glen Watts, only attendee brave enough to attempt the quiz, to be honest, maybe we made the questions too hard....
BlueGFX sponsored the evening and bought the drinks on the night, many thanks go out to them for that, and also to them and Autodesk for letting us use their projector and screen! Many thanks also to Adam Russell and to everyone else who attended for making this yet another successful night out! |
