We are pleased to announce that the International Game Development Association (IGDA) has recently formed a chapter in Hyderabad. IGDA, as you are probably aware, is the premier organization of the international game developers’ community with over 100,000 registered users and members at over 70 chapters worldwide.

The IGDA chapter will organize monthly meetings, seminars and technical discussions to enable the game development community in and around Hyderabad to stay on par with the best developers in the world, and to develop Hyderabad as a hub of the game development industry, in the same manner as the city has become a centre of excellence in the global software industry. To achieve this, we will arrange senior game industry professionals from North America, Europe and the Far East to share their knowledge with us when they visit India. The chapter has plans to organize events focusing on each platform: Console Games, PC games, Online games, mobile games and handhelds.

If you are a producer, game programmer, designer, game artist, animator or game tester, here is your chance to become part of a worldwide community, to gain from their knowledge, insight and connections that help you to develop your skills and expertise.

August meeting: Suggestions?

Now that we have had topics on programming, production and design the question is what do you the members want to cover next?
Please post to the forums your requests for the August meeting topics. Remember: this organization is by you and for you. Also, if anyone would like to volunteer to co-moderate the site please let me know. Thanks!

June Meeting Debrief

We had a small group that forced us once again to migrate to the 'F'
cafe: good news was this time they had beer :)
Topic covered was an interesting discussion on how Indian game design is a difficult concept due to market factors and lack of supported distribution.
