0.0 A word from the Chairman
============================
Dear IGDA Members,
What a terrific GDC this was for the IGDA! It was great to meet many of you
at the show, and to see those of you participating in IGDA activities. By all
accounts, the Game Developers Choice Awards ceremony was very well
received, and the SIG, Chapter and Committee meetings were all very active.
We're proud to announce, that just before the Annual Meeting, we were able
to finalize the agreement between IGDA and IGDN! For those of you
who have been around for a while, you can appreciate the importance of us
bringing our community back together. Finally, we had a very successful
Annual Meeting, where our candidates for the board were able to present
their philosophies and mix with the members who attended.
This month's newsletter includes updates on all of this, plus more.
Be sure to take a moment to review your election ballot and vote. Your
active participation is very important to keeping this community strong.
Alex

1.1 Board of Director elections in progress. Vote!
--------------------------------------------------
We are pleased to announce that we have twelve excellent candidates to fill
the two vacant seats on the IGDA's board of directors. The list of candidates
and their statements can be read online:
http://www.igda.org/candidates.htm
The IGDA's voting election process is done on an "approval voting" basis.
The organization's election procedures dictate that members are entitled to
vote for as many, or as few, of the candidates as you like (check the box
next to their names). Those two candidates with the most votes overall will
be elected to the board.
All IGDA members should receive election materials in the mail any day now.
Return your ballot by mail, or fax to 415-947-6090 before April 15.
Alternately, the same ballot can be printed out and returned:
http://www.igda.org/directors_ballot.pdf
Please take a moment to review the candidates' statements and make your
selections. Please return (or fax) the pre-addressed, stamped ballot to us
prior to the April 15th deadline.
1.2 Developers in the Spotlight
-------------------------------
The recipients of the 1st annual Game Developers Choice Awards have been
posted to the IGDA site, along with press releases describing the recipients
of the Lifetime Achievement and First Penguin awards:

The ceremony itself was a blast, and the IGDA would like to extend its
thanks to everyone who participated. While we are working on our ceremony
summary report, you can check out the following coverage:

1.3 Successful GDC for the IGDA
-------------------------------
This year's GDC was a great success for the IGDA. Each year, our presence
and level of involvement with the conference increases - and 2001 was no
exception. We hosted a full rosters of sessions; eased developers sore feet
in our lobby-area lounge; conducted our Annual Meeting; put on a Suite
Night party and just had fun doing all that and more.
Of special importance was the success of the 1st annual Game Developers
Choice Awards, which was presented by the IGDA (as mentioned above).
