Dear Members and friends,
Behold the list! Top 10 reasons why we all love attending GDC...
10. To brainstorm creative solutions to industry-wide business challenges
with your peers:

9. To sit in on a session completely beyond your understanding, in the
hopes that something will soak in:
http://tinyurl.com/2zo4z
8. To meet the Fat Man behind the book:
http://tinyurl.com/ysxqb
7. To hear something so cool, it makes the entire show worth it:
http://tinyurl.com/2o6mc
6. To thank Alan and the GDC crew with a pat on the back...again:
http://tinyurl.com/22ah3
5. To hear the pronouncement of the oracles:
http://tinyurl.com/2vgd4
4. To meet the IGDA Directors (and director hopefuls) and find out what's
ahead for the org:
http://tinyurl.com/yvm57
3. To hear too much "confidential and proprietary" information revealed
after too many Herradura shots:
http://tinyurl.com/2rsy8
2. To give Ray and Greg the standing ovation they deserve:
http://tinyurl.com/39efp
and finally...
1. "The best time to make friends is before you need them." ~ Ethel Barrymore

See you there!

Board of Directors Nominations
-----------------------------
We would like to invite you to submit nominations for the IGDA board of
directors. The next election will be held at the GDC and in the two weeks
following, and we are filling two open board seats. Nominations are due
Tuesday, March 9th.
The game industry is still developing both as a business and an art form.
Influencing the industry's growth in positive directions requires
leadership. If you care about making games and feel you could serve the
IGDA, we strongly encourage you to contact us about your candidacy
immediately. If you know someone you feel would contribute well, please
contact that person now and encourage him or her to run for an IGDA board seat.
Please review the complete details on the election and submission process:

Bing Gordon to Keynote IGDA Business Summit
-------------------------------------------
EA's Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, Bing Gordon, will
keynote the IGDA's Developer Business Summit. The Business Summit will take
place on Monday, March 22, and Tuesday, March 23, at the Game Developers
Conference.
Game studio heads, publishing executives and other industry leaders will
gather to contend with some of the biggest issues facing game development
studios today, including: developer/publisher relations; Contract and
negotiation practices; Licenses versus original content; IP rights;
Financing; Alternative business models; etc.:

Human Resources SIG Formed
--------------------------
There are many general purpose HR resources, but nothing specific to the
game industry. The IGDA's HR-SIG is meant to be a resource for the
community of game industry HR professionals (and those involved in the HR
process). The HR-SIG is just getting started and is looking for HR
professionals to get involved. One of the SIG's upcoming initiatives is a
forum/tutorial session at GDC (note: the HR-SIG does NOT get involved in
the job posting/finding process).

Quality of Life Best Practices?
-------------------------------
As a follow up to the Quality of Life Committee's recent survey, the
Committee is now looking for input from those who have experienced,
first-hand, positive impacts of good QoL practices in game studios.
