Korea is uniquely blessed with at least two government agencies and two independent associations all dedicated helping all Korean game developers. We discussed the areas of the game industry support that KGDA, and IGDA-Korea will cover in a tentative overview. It was agreed that in the case of developers sharing information that there is a strong overlap of interest between the two groups. In the long-term KGDA and IGDA-Korea have expressed a strong desire to work together to build a program of events for all Korean develoeprs to enjoy. We discussed cross promotion of membership lists and we have agreed to do so; however the exact mechanism of cross-promotion will be determined in future meetings. We also discussed possible program material for seminars and this is an area of active discussion betwen IGDA-Korea and KGDA.
May 6th, 2004: IGDA-Korea Chapter Report
We had a great first meeting of the reviatlized IGDA-Korea. Over 70 folks
from all over the game industry attended, including developers from all leading
studious, both branches of the government that support game development - KGDI
and KIPA, as well as members of the gaming press and other interested parties.
The meeting agenda may be found below; however we did decide on the name
IGDA-Korea by a wide margin over IGDA-Seoul. We also decided that Platinum is
too noisy to use as our next venue. We are also in active discussion with both
KIPA and KGDI as well as KGDA about co-hosting several seminars. Several
institutions also stepped forward at the meeting to offer financial support for
IGDA-Korea. Here is the picture evidence that we enjoyed each others company!
