Akiko Ashley, Co-CEO of Luminetik Animation Studio will present "Kuriocity", a computer animated short illustrating the video game and computer animated single pipeline for content creation.

Santa Monica, Ca – (August 31, 2007) The September 12th session of the Animation 21 Lecture Series is dedicated to screening of "Kuriocity", a computer animated short illustrating the video game and computer animated single pipeline for content creation.
Akiko Ashley will speak about the process of making the “Kuriocity” and future plans for her project: video games, TV Series and feature films.
Akiko Ashley is one of the founders and Co-CEO of Luminetik Animation Studio. Akiko has worked in the entertainment and technology industry for several years. She started her career writing games for Nintendo in Japan. After she left Japan she became a music industry executive for 4 years. In 1994, she decided to start her own technology consulting firm in New York City. Akiko's diverse background was a big asset to the Luminetik team. Akiko was one of the founders of Luminetik in the year 1998. Akiko wrote Luminetik's business plan, marketing & PR strategies and built the company's technology alliances. Akiko is an Executive Producer on such past projects as VFX work on the Castlerock/Warner Bros. movie "Two Weeks Notice", four commercials for Arm and Hammer featuring New York Yankee Jason Giambi, and CGI work for National Geographic on "Snake Wranglers". Luminetik has recently changed their focus of their business direction to creating their own intellectual properties. Akiko wrote and created. "Dis_Konnected" their first IP that is a motion picture and video game franchise. Akiko is a strong believer in women in technology, art, and games and their franchise reflects the strong role model of women characters created by women. Akiko's combination of experience in games, music and animation give her a multi-creative background for targeting the 'tween and teenage marketplace. Luminetik finished their short called "Kuriocity" to introduce the world of "Dis_Konnected" and it's characters. Akiko is the Executive Producer, Writer and one of the Co-Directors on "Kurioicity". Akiko helped Luminetik to be one of the co-sponsors of NYDV Expo at Madison Square Garden in 2003 and produced the commercial for Mind Share Ventures. Akiko has spoken at many conferences (including SIGGRAPH, the Art Institute and IDGA lectures on games) and written for several magazines over the past fifteen years. Luminetik is a sponsor of the Game Center at Art Institute. Akiko has been a judge for the International Festival of Cinema and Technology in 2003 and Art Quotient Contest for young artists in 2004 and has appeared in promotions for the IBM Intellistation APRO (AMD Opteron) line of machines.
