IGDA Meet February 27th - Report [March 1st, 2009 – 9:08 am]

The meet start around 8.30pm, with Hilmy and Ali (hopefully, I got your name right), student from APIIT. While I was reading Quake Live article from Gamasutra, Hilmy started talking with Ali, and Ali shared what he is currently doing, including couple of games/simulation project that sounds pretty cool. After a while, few of other APIIT students arrived, namely Kenneth, David, Whelan and Pei Cheen. After a short introduction round, then, I started off explaining the changes with IGDA Malaysia chapter and Whelan asked about formalization and what it is about. Answering the question, I explained that it will take some time (maybe by the end of this year) before anything happen in international chapters as current formalization effort is concentrated for US chapters. We also talked about their career path, as two of the students will be joining the work force sometime this year.

Ezzy from Activate arrived and joined the discussion. APIIT students brought up their plans with ICCG. Hilmy, Ezzy and me were giving comments and pointers on their idea, personally, I like the direction they are going with the event.

The discussions goes on covering few other topics such as Non-Compete Clause, studio-publisher's relationship and etc. Hafiz fromTitoonic dropped by and had a brief experience sharing with the soon-to-be game programmers from APIIT, before they had to leave to take trains back. Four of us continued chatting, updating each others about development/work related experience up until 11pm before we stop.
