Chapter Meeting: July 2001
Our 2nd meting was a great success. We were fortunate enough to secure the use of the CEC (Center for Electronic Communication) at Florida Atlantic University. Local board member Fran McAfee works there and is also very active in the Fort Lauderdale SIGGraph chapter, so we had sort if a joint meeting. The result was a great turn out with more than double the number of attendees we had at our initial meeting in June!!!
It started with a viewing of some of the student works done at the CEC (mostly Maya stuff...very creative and very cewl). That was followed by the presentation by board member Vic DeLeon of digitalo on the IGDA and its mission and goals.
I took the opportunity to rant on a bit about the boneheads attempting to link real life violence with games...we then retired to the Iguana Canteen at nearby Riverwalk for some well deserved brewskis and social interaction.
I would also like to welcome Monty Clark from Exodus Entertainment to our local board...looks like we will be taping Monty for a presentation for our August meeting...teach him to volunteer!
Unfortunately, I left my camera in the car...so no pix this month... sorry.
