The Mobile Game Development Special Interest Group is an independent community for those involved in the development and marketing of games for mobile devices. Our members include a good cross section of the mobile game value chain including: designers, developers, carriers/service providers, funding sources (e.g. venture firms, publishers, portfolios), handset makers and others. We strive to provide unbiased information and resources to push the games industry in all areas of the mobile game experience.

The IGDA provides the facilities, and the organizers of this SIG provide the knowledge/energy to create an independent effort to:

  • Strengthen the voice of the developer
  • Provide and facilitate the sharing of information on development issues unique to mobile gaming (e.g. java versus a more native language like BREW, device compatibility, experience value of adding location to games)
  • Provide information on the difference in relationships and structures between console mobile and non-console mobile (i.e. DS/PSP versus Motorola or Verizon)
  • Provide and/or point to market research focused on mobile gaming
  • Facilitate discussion on mobile gaming topics (e.g. what truly makes mobile gaming unique when compared to fixed point gaming?).

Without the support, time and effort of our volunteers, the Mobile-SIG would not function, much less excel. Your participation is welcomed and appreciated!

Other 2004-2005 Contributors

The Mobile-SIG recognizes the efforts of its members and/or companies that offer substantial contributions through Mobile-SIG community discussions, by providing resource or other means. While we cannot mention everyone, we will try to mention those that consistently help the SIG, with preference to those that have IGDA full or student memberships with an online profile.
