Global Game Jam Comes to New Orleans

This is it -- we have an official site to hold a Global Game Jam session.  Anyone interested in participating in a 48-hour creative frenzy is invited to participate -- you don't have to be a professional game dev.  There are currently 136 sites across 39 counties participating.

The University of New Orleans has been kind enough to open their facilities to us for the weekend (January 28-30).  Jam Central will be in Milneburg Hall on the main campus.  Depending on the crowd and skillset that arrives, we will be trying to do both digital and analog game projects during the jam -- so feel free to bring supplies if you can.

If you plan to participate, you need to register an account at the main Global Game Jam website (globalgamejam.org).  When you register, make sure to choose New Orleans as your site location.  That's all you need to do.  When you show up on Friday, feel free to bring your sleep-over equipment -- you're going to need it (or a lot of Red Bull).  You'll also find a game jam primer and more details at the website, too.

We are also looking for sponsors to help feed the participants and keep them energized:

  • Friday = Dinner
  • Saturday = Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  • Sunday = Breakfast, Lunch
  • Continuous snacks and drinks

If you or your organization would like to help out, please contact the site coordinator, Kevin O'Gorman (kevin.ogorman at igda-nola.org).

Let's show the world that New Orleans knows a thing or two about making games and having fun.
