GAME INDUSTRY VETERANS GRAEME DEVINE AND ROBERT HUEBNER VOTED TO THE IGDA BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Returning Board Member Matt Toschlog Elected as Chairman


SAN FRANCISCO, CA - May 11, 2001 - The International Game Developers Association (IGDA) today announced the names of the two newly elected members to the board of directors: Robert Huebner, technical director at Nihilistic Software and Graeme Devine, designer/project manager at id Software.

"The IGDA has really been reborn in the last year, so this is a very exciting time to be involved," stated Huebner. "The next few years will see the IGDA become an even more essential part of the game development community. I plan to work directly on making the association even more valuable and responsive to its members, and to the industry as a whole."

Furthermore, new officers were chosen by the board, with returning members Matt Toschlog (president, Outrage Entertainment), Warren Spector (studio director, ION Storm Austin) and Julian Eggebrecht (president, Factor 5) taking on the roles of chairman, secretary and treasurer, respectively.

"Ha! One more step on my way to world domination!," proclaimed Toschlog. "Seriously, now that the IGDA has completed two years of restructuring, we're dedicating our resources to providing enhanced benefits to our members."

The IGDA's board of directors provides the vision for the association and is mandated with keeping the organization on target to fulfil its mission of working together as a community of game developers for the betterment and continued growth of the game development industry.

"I have been in this industry for many years, and now more than ever I feel the need for a strong association that represents the interests of game developers," said Devine. "I am personally keen on getting new talent into the industry that will broaden where the industry is today."

Devine and Huebner began their two-year board terms on May 1, 2001. The IGDA membership elected to have Devine and Huebner fill the vacant board seats by popular vote from a distinguished list of international nominees, including: John Ardussi (president, Auxiliary Power), Jacob Buck (head of development, Interactive Television Entertainment), Jim Charne (attorney, former president of the AIAS), Jonas Eneroth (managing director, Wired Realms), Crosbie Fitch (cyberspace consultant), Alex Garden (CEO, Relic Entertainment), Peter Leahy (director of operations, Totally Games), Marc Mencher (president, Virtual Search), Darrell Porcher (lead development engineer, Sony), Chacko Sonny (CFO/project lead, Savage Entertainment).
