INTERNATIONAL GAME DEVELOPERS ASSOCIATION (IGDA) NAMES NEW PROGRAM DIRECTOR

SAN FRANCISCO - October 17, 2000 - The International Game Developers Association, an independent non-profit professional organization for developers of entertainment software, today announced the appointment of Jason Della Rocca as program director. Della Rocca will report to Jennifer Pahlka, Executive Director, and will be responsible for all outreach and member programs, including the formation of several committees to address issues of concern to the community.

"The creation of this position is an important milestone for the IGDA as it demonstrates the association's focus on providing substantive programming to the developer community." said Alex Jarett, IGDA Chairman. "We were thrilled to have Jason accept the position, as he has a strong combination of passion for the community, energy to get the job done, and a background serving the community through his experiences at leading vendors."

Della Rocca has been a member of the game development community for several years and is best known as the Developer Relations Group Manager at Matrox Graphics Inc., a leading high technology company in Montreal focusing on consumer 3D/2D/video graphics hardware and peripherals. There he managed a large team of evangelists, programmers, artists and tool developers, and oversaw all of the evangelism efforts to the game development community.

"It's all about doing what matters to the development community," said Della Rocca. "I am here to facilitate the sharing of ideas and the creation of this sense of community through programs that inspire developers to get involved - from special interest groups that deal with upcoming 3D technologies and issues in Artificial Intelligence; to local chapters bringing the community together in such diverse places as Ohio and India; to committees addressing the issues of violence in games and the impact of software patents. I am thrilled to be making the IGDA's vision a reality - day by day."
