Hello to all

If you've come as far as reading this, then I assume that you are intrested in game development. In pakistan, this industry is basically non-existent. I always thought that i was the only one intrested in game development, and that i was out of luck becuase of the area that i was living in. but after a little snooping around, ive realized that there are many more like me in pakistan. the response i got to starting a chapter in islamabad was really unexpected, i thought maybe 7 people, max, would respond to this, but there has much more. I have a list of over 100 people from pakistan so far, and around 50 of you have responded positively for this chapter. Im still waiting on the others, but we have more than enough to get sarted Smile

Use this forum to contact fellow game developers in pakistan, use this forum if you want to form a team with game developers from pakistan. for teh first time we (game developers in pakistan) have a place to communicate with each other, so lets take full advantage of the situation at hand. You are all invited to join the islamabad chapter.

may the force be with you Wink heh heh

Ali, u r doing a great job man....I also used to think that I am the only one in pakistan interested in game development. I tried to contact other pakistani programmers with same interest, through gamedev.net member search facility...and I was amazed to see 2 or 3 guys as registered members ( I was expecting none). But we all were suffering from the same problem .... a common platform for interaction.

Now the situation is different we finally have one place to meet and exchange information. By the way I am from Lahore and it would be little difficult for me to come to Islamabad to attend the meeting. But as it is first of its nature in Pak so I will try my best to get there.

It will be a good idea if we also can start a chapter for Lahore...coz theres loads of raw talent here as well waiting for exactly such a thing to unite them.

One more thing, about IGDA membership. Currently most of us r free members and the major reason behind the lack of paid members is the procedure to become a paid member...i.e. credit cards and all the stuff. Money order is another option but takes too much time. It would be better if this procedure can be handled locally through check, bank draft or money orders. Like someone here in Pak can accept membership requests etc.

It *might* be a possiblity for membership orders to be handled locally(I'm pretty sure it wont happen unless an IGDA office is opened here, and I dont think that will happen for a long time), but then the person incharge here would still have to send everything to IGDAs main offices for verification and all the business side stuff. So I assume it would take the same time (if not more) to get approved.

And it dosnt really matter that much, because if you think about it, you can still use many of teh features (but you wont get any benefits) as a free user account, while you're waiting for your approval. and once you're approved, then you get all the features and all the benefits.

so dont worry.

why didnt we start a Pakistan chapter.....

why islamabad......

...............

everybody is a programmer not a single person who is planning to join the local chapter is

1. Writer

2. Concept designer.

3. 2D artist

4. 3D artist

5. Marketeer

anyways i have a habit for bitching about but mathematically

the equation for the pakistan game development scene is this

let

- = programmers

simple multiplication

- x - x - x - x - x - x= ?

- x - = + ( + plus means some advancement)

but

+ x - = - AGAIN

okay okay ill get to the point

my point is stop gathering COMPUTER SCIENCES STUDENTSto develop a game gather everybody..... song writers, composers.. HELL addicts even

if everybody in the chapter is a PROGRAMMER we might have 5 unique and EXTRAORDINARY 3D GAME ENGINES but NOT A SINGLE GAME...................

I hope ill have to EAT my words ......

GOOD LUCK and GOD SPEED

im going to have to say that this statement is 110% wrong. artists have already joined. even 3d modelers. and we even have musicians so.... ur wrong
