Hi all....A warm wellcome to all the paki game developers. Guys this is the first step towards setting up an interactive entertainment industry in Pakistan and we should be proud of it. As some people have already joined this chapter and more are joining every day....So we are becoming a community gradually.

As a community we have certain responsibilities like helping eachother and providing food for thought on problems and issues faced by this newly borned community.

First and foremost...the biggest problem I think that we as learners have is lack of guidance and technical resources. Common lets face it...during our computer studies we get little or no exposure to this dynamic and challenging field and the reason is that Computer Science in pakistan is still in its early stages and we r just getting a taste of it...the technology more simple and easily available has been adopted first ...e.g, database systems development, web designing etc. (no offense) and the complex areas like 3D graphics, real time image rendering, complex maths etc. have been neglected over time due to lack of technical expertise and no job bank. But as the market is getting saturated day by day with more and more database developers coming out from colleges ...it is becoming hard to find a job unless u r a rocket scientist Smile So students now r more encouraged to look into other fields of computer science...like computer graphics and games development.

But as I mentioned above there is zero guidance and lack of resources so students lose hope and drop it. I want to ask all of u here that it would be very helpful if we sort out a way to exchange any material that we might have no matter how big or small...like books articles any experience gained by any pakistani developer working abroad etc. etc. We can also direct eachother to the resources available online ...game development web sites ...free online books etc. etc. I am sure that everyone of us has little or some knowledge so y not share it now.

To start this whole thing of, I would like to mention some web sites which r very informative in this regard

1. gamedev.net
2. gamasutra.com
3. gametutorials.com
4. flipcode.com
5. garagegames.com

Spend some time on these sites and u will get valuable information about books, articles, current trends of the industry, hot technologies ... what and where to learn about certain topics etc. etc.

Now its time for me to leave....
Bye and happy reading !!!!
