For all the students out there interested in hearing what other students from around the world thought of the GDC and what they liked, check out this link.

It is a great resource for all students/newbies.

Whoop for students corner! (-=
I'll have to read those reports in more depth later. It is sort of crunch time at school right now.

How many other students are there?

Anyone doing game-related research?

Aggie IGDA Chapter

Now forming at Texas A&M: a new IGDA student chapter!

This summer I have received interest from about 20 other students (and even a couple faculty members) about an IGDA student chapter at TAMU. We will likely have our first meeting next week. We are not officially recognized yet, but that process will begin soon.

If any of you IGDA vets have any suggestions for helping breathe life into a new organization, your suggestions are welcome!

Also, I would like to extend an early invitation to any professionals who would like to make the 90 mile journey from Houston to College Station to speak about video game development (or a related topic). At this early stage compensation would be minimal (possibly mileage and a meal). Just consider it an investment in our future. TAMU boasts outstanding programs in computer science and visualization sciences with alumni going to work for places such as: Lucas Arts, Havok, Microsoft, Iguana, Multigen-Paradigm, Pixar, ILM, Dreamworks, etc.

I will keep you posted of our progress! Thanks for the support.

Hey jacobf,

I'm interested in attending a meeting at TA&M. I live in houston and wouldn't mind driving to attend meetings. I've been attending IGDA meetings for about a year now over here in orlando and plan on moving to houston at the end of the month. I have a couple of suggestions for IGDA meetings if you like to know. If you need some volunteer help organizing meetings I could help out if needed. Contact me at .

1st A&M Meeting a success

Howdy Polygonists,
We had our first meeting of aspiring A&M game developers on Thursday. We had about 17 people in attendance. Everyone looks forward to organization activities such as working on our own game for the student showcase. Also, many people were interested in hearing from industry professionals, so I would love to invite any of you to speak.

Oh, and btw, we engaged in the official polygonist pasttime of fragging eachother in Halo. Wink

Awesome News

Jacob -

Can you start a thread and post the dates of your upcoming meetings?

It makes it easier to plan in advance.

Would the Aggie gamers considering coming to Houston? I know alot of Polygonists would love to meet you.
