Hello!
Hi all,
I'm a new subscriber to IGDA and would like to join the Amsterdam Chapter. What do i have to do for that?
A brief intro (skip if not interested
:
I'm new to the game development community (oh no, another one...) but have made game art for various private projects in the past, ehm, well, 15 or so years. Obviously those projects mostly broke down due to too much work for one or a few spare timers... But now it's time to get serious! Webdevelopment is not fun forever and life is short, so im working my butt off to get the necessary skills together for 3d/character animation. So i come here for some support, to see what's happening here in NL and to meet people that are doing it.
Sooo....
I'm eager to see what's happening!
Erik
Hey thanx for the reply!
I have some spare time so if i like what's going on i could absolutely devote some of that to the Amsterdam chapter. Have to check everything out though because i'm new here... I'll 'watch the cat out of the tree' first
But i like the idea and have been playing with starting my own dutch game/3d forum site a number of times -- but now it is already here so contributing should be a good thing!
Reg.

Hi,
Welcome to the chapter! There's no special action you have to take to join the chapter specifically. Subscribing to the mailinglist will keep you updated and visiting the meetings will allow you to meet the others and attend presentations and lectures at no cost.
If you however feel you want to support the efforts of IGDA, this can best be done by becoming an IGDA member. Take a minute or two to read about the activities IGDA has to build a strong international game development industry.
Check the chapter website for some useful links to sites that can help you finding information on becoming a 3D animator. Also, you can post specific questions to the forum or to us directly, and the meetings are always a great opportunity to get to know the experts.
Usually we meet 4 or 5 times a year, and these meetings will be announced on the chapter homepage, in this forum and by email.
Also, if you want to be more actively involved, you could consider joining an IGDA committee or help out with the chapter. Anyway, there's lots happening
Always feel free to ask if you have more questions. Hope to see you at the next meeting!
Yours truly,
Ferrie Bank
