What is it exactly? A trade fair?

No, it's a (video)games event; last year there were around 15.000 visitors, althought the line-up was small and so was the location. We've moved from the Brussels Event Brewery to the Brussels Kart Expo; over 5000m² full with games.

Amongst the line-ups there are EA, Atari, Nintendo, Microsoft, Ubi Soft, CCP Games, Activision and the Playstation Expierence (leaving Londen, for the first time).

Atari will show Sonic Heroes, Billy Hatcher, Worms 3D, Kya and many others in preview. Same for the other companies.
AMD will have it's AMD Athlon™ 64 FX processor at Powerplay.

This is an event for the Benelux press, retail and consumers. Oh yeah, there's also a LAN Party.

Fixor (not verified)

I'll also be there... but I don't know yet which day. What date will be the most interesting, Sam81?

Idea.....?

Could we not arrange to have our first official IGDA Belgium Chapter meeting around this time also? Since the PR manager for the event is commenting, perhaps they might like to make a gesture of goodwill towards the indie development world....?

(Ok, it is ALWAYS worth a try, right guys'n'gals?)

Seriously, though, if we can tie the two together, it could be good, especially since most of us will be going anyway.

Top of the week to you all.

Don't be so modest. The IGDA is the only thing that can currently prevent the games industry from becoming part of the movie industry's marketing department. If the industry does not support the independant developers now, it might as well go lie down and die already.

But Powerplay seems to be more directed towards consumers than towards developers.

Guy,

Actually we got in touch with Sam already... Unfortunately he left on holiday and will be back on the 13th of October. We hope to receive updated news by then...

Best regards,

Filip

Ok - just so you all know, the 31st October has already been filled in my calendar... Sunday would really be best for me - that was when I planned to go.

Just so you're all aware.

Scrub that last. Saturday is proving to be easier. Social tiemtable changed again. But I'm going to be there Saturday 1st. For sure. Now, if we can get someone to poke the Chapter heads, maybe we can get a meeting together....?

Guy,

We will be sending out a mailing to the IGDA Belgium subscribers to meet saturday, November 1st, 2003 any day now. Actually I am waiting to hear something from Sam, but he has not gotten back to me so far.

What about setting the meeting time at around 14:30 ?

Does anyone who has been there before know a good meeting point ?

Best regards,

Filip
