Days off for GDC?

Hey me again,

I'm seriously considering getting a ticket for the GDC conference. I was curious on the days we get off during that time. If any.

I heard that it's an excused absence for GD students to attend, but if don't have any days off I need to plan on going for one or two days. Which days would be the best to attend?

Thanks a bunch, Shazz.

You best bet would probably be to find out what classes you'll be taking in March and going to talk to the course directors for that class. Whether the classes continue during that week or not are on a per class basis I believe.

I know last year that most of the earlier courses in the degree were in session, while the later classes were off for the week of GDC.

Man, I wish it were easy to convince *my* teachers I needed to go to GDC. As it stands, I've already had several condem me for wanting to take the one to two days off (I only have 1 class where I'll miss 3). I would think they'd be thankful I'd told them so far in advance! I kinda also wish I had professors that went to GDC, as most of your profs do Wink

My advice as a fellow student, let your profs know early of your intent and if their fairlly organized, they'll let you know what you're going to miss.

Yeah, the good thing about being in a game design program is that the teachers are mainly interested in the industry and want to go to GDC too.

And going to GDC is probably going to have more chance of having an impact on your later career than the one or two days you miss at school. Unless of course you miss a midterm or final. And they don't let you make it up. And you fail. Yeah, that would suck. Smile

Man I really wish I could go. Did you guys fill out the application for the GDC Scholarship on the IGDA website? I did and I hope to win, but since it's unlikely, I'm still considering getting a ticket to the GDC. That would be a great time. But expensive. I guess its' all up to whether or not I pass C++.
