The gaming industry in Belgium seems to be very quiet. One could suspect that it doesn't exist. It would be nice if the Belgian IGDA could organise some kind of event where we can all meet each other and learn about each other's projects, exchange experiences and do a bit of networking. From the very few Belgian developers that I know of, I know that the landscape -if you can call it that- is extremely diverse. There are people working on hyper-commercial epic masterpieces on the one side and others creating tiny experimental stuff for the heck of it on the other. With all shades of the spectrum in between. I hope that variety does not stand in the way of us communicating about the thing we all have in common.
I would be very interested to see a kind of show-and-tell event so that we at least learn what other people are working on. Maybe it could be in the form of a series of presentations. It shouldn't be too informal (no meetings in bars, please! Wink ).
Since the game industry in Belgium is so small (I think), it is very important for us to know about each other and to form a group. A group that can then speak with authority to governmental organisations, for instance, concerning my funding and education, to name just two of the major problems that game developers in this country are experiencing.
