Introduction
Hello to everyone in the San Francisco Chapter of the IGDA. I'm not officially a new member yet because I haven't mailed in my check but I thought I'd take this time to introduce myself.
My name is Ken Yee and I'll be graduating from Cal Poly Pomona in a few weeks with a degree in Music Business. It's specifically designed to prepare students for a job within the music industry but as time passed, my interests changed and I realized that I was not limited to a job only in the music industry. I have taken classes in music technology that have allowed me to familiarize myself with programs such as Pro Tools and Performer. I have also taken classes that cover the use of music in film and television. In those classes, I was exposed to some of the legalities of the music business.
My area of interest in the video game industry lies within the audio realm. The two areas that interest me most are sound editing and licensing. If I'm not mistaken, the editing tasks lie with the Sound Designers?
I am currently interning at ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) in Los Angeles where I was encouraged to become a member of the IGDA by Southern California members Shawn Lemone and Kevin Coogan.
I haven't attended any chapter meetings yet as I'm still located in Southern California. I will return to the East Bay in a couple of weeks where I will keep an eye out for the next meeting. I look forward to meeting all of you. See you then!
