Game Purchases

There was a game purchase thread here, but that was for a specific month. I'd like to start this persistent thread (sticky?) to log actual game purchases (As in a company was successful in getting you to part with your cash).
No freeware, shareware, and definitely no @#$%&*! pirating. I'm just curious as to what the forum regulars here spend their money on.
If you're playing an MMO, then list it once and list again if you decide the quit the MMO.
What if you decide to resubscribe to the MMO?

Hmm... section 142 of article 85D of forum ettiquette for thread #17522 dictates that if one should decide to resubscribe to the MMO, then it should be considered a new game as if the previous subscription to the MMO never happened.
I'm curious about money flow first and foremost, game personality second.
Resubscribed to WoW - went to cancel my subscription but realized that it was renewed for me a few days before I logged in. D'oh. Guess there'll be a WoW account for me for the next 6 months.

What? No CoH? Traitor!
I've been considering re-upping my WoW subscription in a month or two (after work stuff settles down) just to check out the battleground stuff. I've probably got some grinding to do before I can actually get in there without getting stomped. Too bad more games don't have the "jump to pvp/endgame level" option that Guild Wars has...
In other news, I finally got around to playing the second Sly Cooper game - very enjoyable. I also played around with Fate some, and it's a pretty mindlessly entertaining Diablo clone, only with fishing. Next up from GameFly - Destroy All Humans!
(On a separate note, I'm considering ditching GameFly - their turnaround times here are atrocious, about two weeks between games. They also bent over and pulled GTA:San Andreas after the whole Hot Coffee/AO thing, and I really don't feel comfortable supporting the Wal-Martization of online game rental... Are there any decent alternatives?)

Seems like GameSpy has some kind of game rental program, not sure...
you might check.
Just purchase:
- UT 2004 special edition (2 DVD) yeahhhh....got the last copy.
But haven't played it due to my stupid self-dying laptop!
It's been a while since I've bought a game, but the last 2 were:
Viewtiful Joe 2 and The Minish Cap.
Gotta love the sillyness of Viewtiful Joe.
Mmm, let's see..my fiance and I both have subscriptions to CoH and WoW so I guess they've done a good job of parting us from our money.
The recent games I've purchased (in the last month) are Psychonauts, Chaos Theory, Jade Empire, and Guild Wars. Apparently I spend too much money on games.
edit: Oh, for the record I've never had a 2 week turn around for GameFly. I would tell them if you're really having such a long wait. I'd say we wait about 3-4 days at most, maybe you have a gamer mail man...

I forgot to mention. I also pay $50/year for Xbox Live. I guess that counts, too.
Rollercoaster Tycoon 3.
What can I say, I'm a sucker for building the sickest and most deadly rollercoasters ever concieved!

Just got a Nintendo DS... to resolve the TV conflict that resulted from playing Fire Emblem on the GBA adapter for GC.
Send your rollercoaster ideas to Six Flags. Haha

Picked up
Crimson Skies : High Road to Revenge
for Xbox
Best arcadey flight combat game ever! Emphasis on arcadey.
Though it's free, I just got around to downloading and playing Facade.
I was quite disappointed with all the publicity that it received for the non-scripted interaction between the two and real voices, etc. They were very unresponsive to just about anything that I said. I noticed that if you waited for them to clue you into what you're supposed to say they were more responsive, but it was to the point of being more a guessing game of what and how I was to say something. The reviews imply that you can say what you want, which I found to untrue. You can technically say whatever you like, but they just look at you and say something like "Well...huh." I got better responses when I put in key words that I new the game was looking for such as "like view" instead of "That's a lovely view." It was cool, but hardly worth all the hype.
I completely agree with your assesment of Facade. I'd been looking forward to trying it for some time, and when I finally got my hands on it (after the bloated download, buggy install, and chug-chug-chug of their little engine) I was sorely disappointed. You've hit most of the major points - the text parsing was criminally primitive, the reactions were either obviously scripted, completely random, or way too easy to manipulate, and the characters you were supposed to be interacting with were the most obnoxious, annoying simulated people I've seen on a screen in a while. (A little advice - if you're going to pin your game or simulation on human interaction, try to make sure that the player's primary reaction isn't the desperate urge to throw your shallow, whiny characters out the window.) I understand that using voice acting instead of sticking to text limited the available story paths somewhat, but still, it's pretty sad. If this is a glimpse of the future of interactive fiction, we're looking pretty screwed, here. After running through a half dozen scenarios or so, none of which were interesting or compelling in the least, no matter what I did, I uninstalled Facade, and I just have to chuckle now when I hear its praises being sung.
It's not all bad, of course. I did like the intimate setting, the more or less unique visual style used, and I think the facial animation engine and the way they attempted to convey emotion through it were fairly well done. Still, disappointing overall, and nowhere near the revolution that it's been touted as.
I thought I was the only one that used a great deal of profanity and threatened to slice their throats after only playing 3 games. :p Seriously, though, how hard would it have been to allow users to start a new game without having to exit the program completely? That's a major annoyance.

The last 3 games I can remember buying (and this is in the last year and/or maybe more) :p - I mostly *do* use freeware/shareware games...
perhaps we *should* have a thread for those as well?
SimThemePark (EA/Bullfrog)
Zoo Tycoon w/Marine Mania (MS/BlueFang)
Enigmo (Pangea)
Thinking of possibly getting a few games off RealArcade, and/or a GameCube or DS...
but I really just don't buy that much. :/
/me wants a free games thread...
Prior to my WoW resubscription, the last game we got was Lego Star Wars based on the oddly good word-of-mouth I kept hearing.
Any recent game purchases? I'm still waiting on a critical mass of good games before purchasing a DS, although dropping the price by $20 is very persuasive.
Madden 06 - everything that I've wanted in an NFL football game for a long time
Half-Life - I never owned it the first time, so I purchased it for like $12 dollars online. Man it really is fun, even to this day.
Half-Life 2 - Despite all of the local stores charging $55, I found the game online for $29. I wish I had a DVD drive now, though, as the collector's edition was only $35 and included everything I got separately for $42. Half-Life 2 is one of the most fun games that I've played in quite a long time.

You can get a used DS for $100 at http://austin.craigslist.org/
I am probably getting a DS too.
I think we should all buy DS's and Nintendogs. Then we could get together and have illegal dog fights!
Still fishless...

I have a DS and nothing really appeals to me just yet... so I have zero DS games. Just Fire Emblem, which is a GBA game.
My next purchase will be Advance Wars DS. I'll probably trade in that blasted Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones after I beat it because I'm getting tired of replaying chapters every time someone in my party dies due to that permanent death thing. I know it's my choice to either replay the chapter or move on with one less character, but I can't bear to lose any party member that has a personality I don't want to miss out on. Fire Emblem really reminds me how obsessive-compulsive I can be with these types of games, and I think Advance War's system is less conducive to being compulsive. It'll be a healthy change for me.
Looking forward to Castlevania DS... oh, and I'll get Nintendogs, too.

Just purchased "Sega Superstars" for PS2... for the Eye Toy. Nothing gets my non-gamer friends to enjoy and understand the appeal of games as much as DDR and Eye Toy.
I found that Donkey Konga works in that capacity as well.

I played a demo of Nintendogs this weekend. I would scratch this one puppy's head, and he'd evenutally lie down and roll over for you to scratch his belly. You could get balloons and throw them around and watch the puppies play with the balloon until it popped. They'd all whimper a little bit, and then run around some more. That's dangerous stuff. It'll give you cavities.
Picked up a copy of Neverwinter Nights. My wife was curious about the Aurora toolset.
Psychonauts showed up here on Friday, and it sucked me in all the way. Aside from a few obnoxious jumping puzzle/save point issues, super fantastic game, really well put together all around. More like that, please.
