What game are you currently playing?
Just killing my time.
I am currently playing Castlevania : Dawn of Sorrow.
My character is now on level 22.
Weapon: Claymore
Armor: Elven robe
Top(?): Red scarf
Equiped souls: Mini Devil (Lvl 3), Zombie (Lvl 5), and Ghost Dancer (Lvl 1)
Ability:
Destroy ice blocks, double jump, and switch equipment setting
Gold: 20k
Magic seals: 2
Killed 5 bosses
Game finish percentage: 24%.

Lately I've mostly been playing Neverwinter Nights (multiplayer),
Escort Wing, Zap, and Wildlife Tycoon: Venture Africa.
Feel free to ask if you're curious about any of these titles

After you beat the game, you got the hidden characters right? Julius Belmont, and Alucard?
Did you beat the game again using those char?
I just defeated the puppet master
Got my ghost dancer to lvl 9 so that it would allow me to have better chance getting souls.
Zratchet:
What is Escort Wing?
Yeah, after finishing the game once, I unlocked Julius, Alucard, and that lady (can't remember her name but she enchants your weapons).

Currently playing Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory co-op over Xbox Live with a raging sadistic psychopath comedian. I finally found somebody who plays the game that I can relate to.
The NPCs respond to your conversation if you speak too loud around them. It's nice.

A neat new indie game. If you come to the AIGD meeting tomorrow at CyberJocks you could see it

Currently playing Mario Kart.
Almost finish the 150cc grand prix. It's hardd!
... waiting for Metroid Prime DS and DS Lite
Mario Kart DS
Resident Evil DS
Perfect Dark Zero
Awaiting Metroid Prime DS, Ghost Recon: AW (360), and Burnout (360).

Still playing same as before plus Grid Wars
...and all of them are fun!
Arcade style
- GridWars is being sued by Microsoft for its similarity to Geometry Wars.[edit] I guess Zratchet beat me to this one, heh? No, nobody is getting sued! see below
The next two are free downloads from fileplanet.
2D Platformer
- Halo Zero is a 2D platform version of Halo. I like it better than Halo.
Strategy
- Ground Control got 8.5 from Gamespot when it was released in 2000. It's a futuristic military stategy game with a fun story and no resource management. To quote gamespot, "Ground Control is not only one of the best-looking games to date (it has a great look), but also one that's suitably challenging and rewarding". It's really fun, with 30 fun, diverse and challenging missions in the story mode. Looks like Ground Control II is on the way too!

Is Gridwars really being sued? I couldn't find anything about it...

No, sorry misread an article.

OK. Whew. :p
I have officially finished Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow whew...thought I would never finish the game.
The game is okay. It's not bringing the same excitement I had with Symphony Night.
Two complains that I have are the methods to defeat the bosses are kind of lame, and doing the seal every time you defeat a boss is getting annoying after a while.
Anyway, now I can fully focus on metroid and mario kart
Btw, does anyone have Tetris DS? If you do, what do you think of it?

Tribes 2 version 2. I've been playing the game five years and still love it. I hope the torque shader engine delivers some good games.
Oblivion (PC)...yum
and occasionally Dofus (learned about it from GDC)
Rise of Legends demo. Fun on a stick. It's interesting how this series and the Age of Empires III series are diverging. Age of Empires III seems to be taking the traditional RTS route, but with additional features. The ability for a civilization to accumulate abilities which can be used in later scenarios creates an interesting sense of persistence. On the other hand, Rise of Legends seems to be veering away from the traditional RTS mold. Only one resource is harvested (Timonium) which powers your civilization. Gold is accumulated through trade with other cities. There are fewer decisions, but each decision carries a lot more significance.
Also playing Tetris DS. If you've played the game, then you'll know what I'm talking about when I say they're milking every Nintendo franchise for all it's worth. However, this is not a bad thing. Highly recommended.

Me too...
also Escort Wing, Gate88, and Garden Dreams.
After far too long, picking and poking in bits and pieces, I finally finished off Resident Evil 4. This is a perfect example of what we were talking about in That Other Thread - pretty, totally adequate design, solid francise, and yet, totally empty and unsatisfying to play. The little "run around and shoot as many zombies as you can in two minutes" that you unlock after slogging through the main story is an order of magnitude more fun than the "real" game. Maybe I'm just jaded.

I hated RE4. I couldn't take the camera angle with the inability to readjust it. I guess that makes me a scrub or something.

That was actually a place where RE4 totally failed by making a half-assed attempt to change something to appeal to more mainstream players, IMO. Your traditional survival horror game has a fixed, "cinematic" camera angle, whereas RE4 went with the standard over-the-shoulder third person type of thing. Bah.
Best scary game ever - Fatal Frame. Absolutely terrifying.

Agreed. I don't think I finished that, but... yeah. I should see if I can pick up a used copy somewhere. For when... I retire, I guess.

For the record, I thought RE4 was a huge improvement over previous iterations in the series, and I enjoyed RE4 immensely enough to play through the game more than three times. RE4 is much more than any of the previous games in that series, IMHO. Everybody has an opinion, of course. Some opinions are in tune with other opinions, and some aren't.

For a completely different opinion, I don't like/play scary games at all :p

Psh. Popularity is no measure of quality. RE4 was an empty degeneration of something unique. RE used to have a unique angle, but now it's exactly like every other run-around-and-shoot-things-and-take-their-stuff game out there. Sure, it looks good, but come on. The story and writing were terrible. The controls were lame. The level design was uninspired, and the enemies were for the most part indistinguishable. There was no tension - I was bored almost the entire time, pushing through only because of my own compulsive need to finish games, no matter how tedious. I could go on.
So, that all being said, I'm genuinely curious as to why people liked it so much. It did look good, sure, but there's plenty of gorgeous, totally unplayable games out there. Why is this generic summer blockbuster so well received? Am I just bitter and cranky, or did I really miss something in there?

Quality is in the eye of the beholder. To each his own. There are a lot of reviews out there that go into specifics as to why people like this game.

I have wondered the same thing, because to me the camera angle was the reason I put it away after less than one hour, but the truth is if it had done better with even one of your above mentioned qualifiers, then I probably would have put up with the camera. I just felt like the game offered me nothing besides nice graphics which means next to nothing for me. So, when I finally got tired of trying to see over the idiot's shoulder I just stopped playing.
