Action: Formal IGDA Chapter Meeting
A formal IGDA Chapter Meeting is one where we organize speaker sessions that the public can attend. A formal platform means that people can organize themselves and tell others about it so that they can come prepared to listen to the talks. It would also be a platform for local game developers to speak formally to the community, and let the public know what's going on regarding game development in Malaysia.
The main obstacle to this was location (Funny I'm not mentioning finding speakers, right?). To do a formal speaking event, we need a place that has the facilities. If say we have a place with a mike and a projector, splendid. So far, we've had three possible options:
1) MDeC future space in KL Sentral
2) Microsoft Auditorium, KLCC
3) LKW's space at KL Sentral
There are other options like the MDeC place in Cyberjaya, and colleges, but distance becomes an issue. Having in somewhere in KL would let people access it easier.
I think that IGDA should focus on creating one formal speaking session, so that it would set the tone on how IGDA will relate itself to the game development effort in Malaysia.
I propose a goal: the next Chapter Meeting will be a formal one, and it will be three months from now.
Three months should be enough time to look for speakers, and to get a venue to do the sessions. It should be enough time to work on the problems, and problems we will have plenty.
Can it really be done? What do you guys say? Let's talk about it.
