Looking for information on the next scheduled meeting
Hello,
I've been looking to meet other people in the ohio area that have an interest in and deal with game development and design. I figured this would be a good place to start.
I've been looking on the chapters site now and again to see when the next meeting will be and so far haven't seen any updates. Just curious if the date for the next meeting has been decided or not.
I noticed that the last meeting was canceled due to lack of interest. If there would be a way to get more people interested in meeting would that help to get the meetings going again or possibly more often?

Well, I'm in.
I wish there was a way we could see all the IGDA members in central Ohio. Suppose there's a privacy issue there though.
According to the Directory the Columbus chapter has 8 listed. There could be more but thats what is known. We could always try to spead the word about having meetings at the local colleges or something. Do you have any ideas where a good meeting place would be? A place that is centralized and or well known to people would probably work the best atleast to start with.
Well I'd be in for participating too. I could probably make at least a once a month drive out to Columbus there. Maybe we can revive this thing...

We typically meet about 4 times a year, due to the difficulty in getting people from all over the state together more often. Our last meeting was supposed to be in June, but it was cancelled. I would imagine there should be another one coming up soon (in the next month or so.) With the central Ohio universities being back in session, the attendance should be higher now.

Yep, we'll be having a meeting soon. I'll be posting about it later today. It should be really good. We have an excellent guest speaker coming in town to speak at CCAD (Craig Reynolds - Senior Software Engineer at Sony Entertainment). Ron Saks was able to get him to come in a day early and talk. It will be on Sunday, OCt. 15th in the afternoon. We'll also probably meet down at CCAD instead of the usual meeting place of ACCAD. I'll get back with more info later.

I just started school for game design and I signed up recently as a student. This is the closest chapter to me (im in cincinnati) so yeah, If I see a post with a date and a place Ill drive up for sure! So whens the next one?

We only have meetings 3 to 4 times a year, so the next meeting will either be in early December or early next year. The big problem with early in the year is usually getting a time without snowfall. If anyone would be up for it we could meet up on a weekend just to see whos around. A place like a back room of restuarant or if anyone knows a lab area that is accessible to a group of people. If anyone is interested feel free to post your thoughts and ideas.
Just for anyone interested. I graduated from DeVry Summer of 2002 with a Bachelors in Computer Engineering Technology. Presently, my interest and understanding in game development / design comes from the programming side of it. Its where I've spent most of my time but I still am into the whole game development process.
