Next Meeting - Oct. 15th
Hello Everyone!
Our next meeting will be on Oct. 15th at 6:30 PM! We're lucky enough that Ron Saks of CCAD talked Craig Reynolds (see below short bio) of Sony into talking/meeting with our IGDA group. We'll probably not have the meeting in our usualy ACCAD location, but more than likely have it down at CCAD. In order to do that, I'll need a head count on who would like to come out for this. We're also thinking about doing something along the lines of food, but that hasn't been decided yet.
Please let me know if you want to come so we can get an appropriate sized space. I need to know by this Friday or early next week if you're planning on coming.

Craig Reynolds - Senior Software Engineer at Sony Entertainment specializing in the technological development of motion controlers for autonomous characters, and previously at DreamWorks, E/A, Silicon Studio, Symbolocs, and before that III - is a 1998 recepient of a Scientific and Engineering Academy Award. He'll be coming to Columbus on Sunday, October 15th for an October 16th 11:00AM presentation at CCAD's Canzani Auditorium. The presentation will be about his work on such recent projects include PSCrowd, a high performance crowd simulator for PS3, and OpenSteer, an open source library of steering behaviors, and is open to all (inclusive of ACCAD and IGDA persons).
Got held up and couldn't make it.
Could someone please summarize the meeting?
I got the presentation that Craig made in a pdf file, but it hasn't been posted to our website by our web person yet. It was basically a talk on flocking and crowd simulation type behaviors. I'm sure some of the more technical people would have a better explanation...keep checking on the chapter site for the uploaded pdf file.

This is the new site for our chapter. it's now a WIKI page to make things a little easier, but at the same time still has all the links, etc. There is a link there to Craig's presentation in pdf format.
Thanks to our web person (Darren Torpey) for getting everything set up and running for us.

We now have a place for the meeting on the 15th! We're going to meet at CCAD in downtown Columbus. I'd suggest using google maps or mapquest for directions from your neck of the woods.

For the Sunday evening IGDA meeting we will be located in Kinney Hall 309.
Kinney Hall is on the northeast corner of E. Gay Street and N. Ninth Street
(one block east of Cleveland Avenue and one block north of Broad Street and
shown as building 14 on the CCAD campus map). The CCAD campus map can be
found at: http://www.ccad.edu/campusmap.htm
<http://www.ccad.edu/campusmap.htm>
Room 309 is on the upper floor of Kinney Hall.
On Sundays the building can only be entered through the loading dock
entrance at the southeast corner of the building. The security guards know
that we are having our IGDA meeting there that evening. So instruct all of
the IGDA members and ACCAD students who are planning on attending to
identify themselves as attendees of the IGDA meeting. Parking should be
available in the parking lot immediately to the east of the building
(sandwiched against buidlings 14 and 3 on the CCAD campus map). Security
will not be ticketing vehicles in that lot that evening. If space isn't
available (unlikely) there should be space available at the meters on both
9th street and Gay Street.
