Does anyone know of any freelance video game reviewer tips or resources?
Currently I’m a QA tester at a large video game publisher, but I’ve been flirting with the idea of maybe putting my college degree to a little more work as a writer. I'm interested in exploring freelance video game writing, but I’m not sure where to start. I've never freelanced for anything.
Right now I’m putting together a small writing portfolio so that I can provide samples when the time is right. But to be honest, I’m not even sure how you secure a freelance job.
Would I just email a number of video game related sites, express my interest in writing reviews, and then provide some writing samples?
Also, does anyone know what you could expect to make as a freelancer? I understand it won’t be much, but then again, I don’t make a lot as a QA Tester, so it isn’t like I’ll miss the money.

My article 32 doesn't address working as a reviewer. To become a reviewer you'll need to start by collecting data on all the review sites and magazines, then figure out how to network with the editors. And of course start writing lots of reviews.

You can do a search or look on craigslist. There are plenty of sites looking for video game reviewers (unpaid, though)
