Hello!

Per a few suggestions on the NJ IGDA list, I'm passing along an email from earlier today to you all.

My name is Garth DeAngelis and I am a graduate student at Carnegie Mellon's Entertainment Technology Center (etc.cmu.edu). I am about to enter the market for a new job and was hoping to learn more about this area.

I am spearheading an effort to raise awareness of job opportunities on the east coast. The ETC has many amazing relationships with the likes of EA, Activision, Pixar, and Disney, but as we all know, the opportunities in the east have been thin. Still, with a little bit of research, I've found that jobs are available and students WANT to stay on the east coast... they just don't think it's plausible.

I have begun to compile a spreadsheet of companies and locations in the Mid-Atlantic. If anyone in the professional community or IGDA would be interested in partnering with me to coordinate industry awareness in the form of an "East Coast Trip", please don't hesitate to email me. I hope to have a trip planned for the Spring '09 semester.

Many thanks!

Garth DeAngelis

I heard GameLab did an Open House for female computer science students at PSU a while back.
